At Last, An Update

Well, I just checked where we left off, and I can see we've been pretty slack when it comes to keeping everyone apraised of our whereabouts this trip. Partly because the internet has been tougher to come by, and we've been too busy travelling to get around to it.
I guess we left off in Chinque Terre, on our way to Siena. I'll try and remember back that far, and tell you some about it. IT was our longest day travelling, three trains, and three busses, and we arrived kind of late, and it was raining hard. We took refuge in a small cafe, and had a cappucino to figure out how to find a place to stay. Finally I called a Servas host who gave us a recommendation of a great hotel right in the heart of the city. We headed for it during a break in the rain, and unfortunatly, when we got there, it was full. Found a place next door, and settled in there. Next day, a break in the weather gave us a chance to explore the town. Going to take abreak here, and send this update, before I get kicked off this computer.
More to come .....

Short Update

Venice was great. The Servas hosts were very accomodating, and gave us great tips on places to go in Venice. Spent a day covering a great deal of the city, with the sun shining. Shared the train to our next destination with an interesting Venice resident, a woman who was an architect.
We're in Chinque Terra, now. Arrived kinda late, and raining, but after cutting it close, found a nice place. Spent a great day today walking the trail between a couple of the rustic towns, and tomorrow on our way to Siena.

Yes, we're here !!!

Hi Folks,

We're having some trouble updating the site, but bear with us. We had a great time in Venice, (sunny) and have just arrived in Cinque Terra (sp ??). And it's raining !  We'll explore tomorrow, and see if we can upload some pics.

Love,

First Report From Germany

Hello everyone ! We have been enjoying our stay with friends we have not seen in over 10 years. Stefan and Renata have been wonderful hosts, making us feel very at home. Weather is great. Sunny and moderate temps. Jet lag is still a bit difficult, and we try and keep active during the day. The day after our arrival (Laura, myself, and Flat Stanley (see pics to follow) had a dinner party in their garden with two other friends (Ans and Guenter)  from Amsterdam, who I had not seen in 15 years ! We had a great reunion, and they invited us to their house for a sumptuous breakfast in their garden. They thanked us for bringing California weather, as it rained for six weeks during the summer.
Today we are going to tour the wine country.
OK. I hope to add some pics soon. Regards to all back home.

Wine on Santorini

HEY ADVENTURE GODDESS!!!!

Have a great time and take lots of pictures!!!! If you happen to go to
Santarini, can you swing by the Santarini vineyard and pick up a bottle
of red wine (the medium dark colored red wine bottle) that is bottled in
a plastic water bottle? I will totally give you the money when you get
back...it's my favorite!!!!

Thanks,

Cindy

Well, here we are celebrating Labor Day Weekend with friends and family before final preparations for our European Adventure. The plan is to fly to Franfurt, Germany to meet old friends for a few daze (we'll be a bit jetlagged), then on to Venice on the following Tuesday. From there, the plan is to work our way through the Tuscany area, via "Cinqeterra" on our way to the Amalfi Coast, and Positano, a small, but very charming town, from what we hear.
A quick trip to Rome, and we catch a flight to Athens, and spend the remaining two weeks in the islands of Greece. We'll try and keep everyone appraised of our adventure here, on the blog !
